On 27th May, the Norwegian royal family announced that Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway would be coming to Australia to study at the University of Sydney.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra will be commencing a three-year Bachelor of Arts in Semester 2, majoring in political economy and international relations.
The princess is 21 years old, and has delayed her university studies to complete a 15-month military course in Norway. She graduated from this course in April 2025.
Princess Ingrid is the first female heir to the Norwegian throne. She is second in line to the Norwegian throne behind her father, Crown Prince Haakon. King Harald of Norway is her grandfather.
According to a royal family spokesperson, the Princess will be staying in student accommodation at USyd. The particular accommodation has not been identified.
The princess’ decision to study abroad follows a string of scandals in her family. This includes the marriage of her aunt, Princess Märtha Louise, to American shaman Durek Verrett. Verrett has claimed that he is not fully human and has memories of being a Pharaoh in a past life.
Meanwhile, the princess’ half-brother, Marius Borg Høiby, was charged with bodily harm and criminal damage in 2024. The 27-year-old was accused of assaulting his former partner.
While staying in Australia, the princess will not be involved in public engagements, and will travel back to Norway during university breaks.
Princess Ingrid Alexandra will be commencing her studies at USyd in August. Honi Soit wishes her a warm welcome!
