Want to write, produce content or create art for Honi Soit in 2024? It can seem really daunting at first but contributing to Honi is pretty easy. Follow these links here to sign up by as a writer/reporter form or an artist/photographer form.
For reporters:
After filling out the reporter form, an editor will send you a friend request on Facebook or Instagram and add you to their reporter group. On the Instagram close friends story and the 2024 Honi Reporters Facebook group there will be prompts posted. These are always just a guide–your pitch doesn’t have to fit the weekly theme. Your pitch (100 words describing your argument, its relevance and a proposed word count) is due to your editor on midnight the next Saturday. For long form pieces, let us know if you want art. We’d love to workshop pitches with you, so message your editor before Saturday to allow time for this. If your article is accepted a draft is due the following Thursday. Your article will hit the stands two weeks later on Wednesday morning.
Another way to contribute to Honi without pitching, is responding to the review opportunities posted to the 2024 Honi Reporters Facebook page and Instagram close friends. These articles tend to be online only, but are a great way to be published in Honi.
For artists:
If you choose to be an artist instead, you will fill out this form. After this, expect a friend request from one of the editors. You’ll be added to the Instagram close friends story and the 2024 Honi Artists Facebook group. Here, prompts will be posted, and you can message to claim. If you are interested in pitching your work, for example a comic, please message an editor, and it will go through the same pitching process as a printed article.
