The blueprint for a community-led festival already exists in the way Splendour patrons interact with each other. Perhaps it’s time we wave goodbye to the profit-minded model of Australian festivals, and move towards one which cares for the people who attend them. And, more urgently, one which cares for the land they inhabit.

All main stage acts on the first day of the festival have been cancelled at the last minute due to wet weather. This comes after the previous night’s camping entry process left festivalgoers waiting for over nine hours with no accommodation or communication from the festival.
Scholarships are awarded based on a range of criteria, which reflect the values and aims of the festival.
