The protesters called on the Albanese government to end all their ties to Israel and condemned the time it took the government to restore UNRWA funding. Over 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza since the most recent Israeli invasion.

Floyd also asserted that “there is no neutral position in genocide” and indeed, Penny Wong’s suspension of UNRWA funding, the revocation of Palestinian visas mid-flight and the Australian government’s abundant rhetorical / financial assistance to Israel, demonstrates where Labor lies – with Israel. Instead, Floyd highlights Labor’s interest in “token gestures and short term praise” while having “no interest in taking any steps to condemn Israel’s actions.”Ample watermelon merchandise as a reflection of solidarity with Palestine.
