The act of watching the documentary felt pervasive, granting the audience an incredibly intimate dissection of Shiori Itō’s life. She presents traumatising events in such a calm and clinical way through her internal monologue running through the film that you could almost forget she is investigating her own assault.

In 2012, both Popo and I joined Facebook. It soon became our main way to connect. The posts on my wall were frequent and the messages seemingly unending, but what I valued the most were the mundane posts that Popo would share that felt intimate and personal.

Ultimately, the struggles of marginalised communities transcend race, and Radio Skid Row came to serve communities outside the Indigenous communities of Australia. A valuable function of the radio station was its ability to connect the struggles of these communities.
